The unplanned worldwide disruption of this year has proven more than ever the importance of a strong workplace culture. Businesses that were forced to shift suddenly from office-based work to a diaspora of homeworkers have had to rethink fundamental behaviours like collaboration, performance management, and tasking to name a few. The suddenness of this change, which for some organisations has bordered on radical, meant that management could not afford to prepare staff or “test the waters”. Communication is key. We all know that tired axiom, but so much that goes wrong in a business can be boiled down to a failure to communicate. Payara Week 2020: Madeira, Portugal

Although every Payaran is currently working from home in response to Coronavirus, the whole team is still buzzing from Payara Week, held on the stunning sub-tropical island of Madeira. While this is our fourth annual Payara Week, it’s our first time hosting the event outside England. Flying everyone out to Funchal, Madeira gave the whole Payara crew the opportunity for a warm, sunny break from late winter (though it felt more like home to our equatorial crewmember).

Core values — along with mission and vision statements — have become essential for any business, especially now that the active construction of company culture has become standard.

Christmas Festivities at the Malvern Office

You might have noticed that Payarans will make lots of excuses for a good time, and the energy of Christmas and New Year is as good of a reason as any to let down our proverbial hair for a bit of fun. On 6 December, Payarans in our UK office celebrated the upcoming holidays with its annual Christmas party, when all Payarans in our UK office shut down their workstations at lunchtime to spend the rest of the day having some fun and a nice meal out on the town.
