Today is the birthday of Steve Millidge, Payara’s CEO and Founder, Eclipse Foundation key committer, and the brains behind providing a supported replacement for GlassFish in 2014: the birth of Payara Platform!
However, being a leader means a lot more than just bright ideas, and his leadership style also sets the tone for Payara’s culture and values.
To celebrate his big day, we quizzed some Payara team members on Steve as a boss. Here are some of the answers – take note aspiring tech leaders!
Hadar, our new Payara Engineering Manager, joined the team at the same time as Arie, Cheryl and Luis (read their previous Q+As). We onboarded 4 team members across 3 different countries/time zones in the space of one week.

Our CEO Steve Millidge will be taking a look at the past year for Payara, and then providing a high-level overview of the next year – before zeroing in on the next few months.
He will be providing a wider perspective of our products, performance and future plans than in our usual roadmaps, which focus solely on the past few months and what’s coming up in the shorter term – so if you’ve never attended a Payara Roadmap Update before, now is the chance to get full view of the plan for Payara!
You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and provide feedback.

We all have our little aids that keep us ticking along, tapping that keyboard, making the magic runes do the things. This blog will make me sound very British, and may make you hungry, but here are my five best fuels that keep me making sarcastic comments and writing code when I start to lag on the long days: Continue reading “Best Fuels for Developers”
