Meet Hadar: Our New Engineering Manager

Hadar, our new Payara Engineering Manager, joined the team at the same time as ArieCheryl and Luis (read their previous Q+As). We onboarded 4 team members across 3 different countries/time zones in the space of one week.

Our CEO and Founder Steve Millidge reflected:

“One of the things I noticed about our new hires is the great diversity of the team. We managed to do inductions with new hires literally spread across the globe simultaneously. I have also seen this in Engineering 1-1s, with the team consistently praising the collaborative nature of the team. Members across the world are collaborating and helping each other out despite time zones and distances. We truly are a global team and that is something to celebrate.”

What energises you at work?

Challenges, working alongside a good team.

How do you prefer to start your day?

Hug to my wife and kids, a good coffee and some music.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?

Reserve a time of day for high focus tasks.

Are you an early bird or night owl?

Early bird.

What are you looking forward to about working at Payara?

Meeting new people, learning the company culture. Learning new technology.

What’s your preferred communication style: email, f2f or rapid text chat?

F2F (On Teams or Zoom).

What’s the biggest misconception people have about your role?

Maybe that as a manager I have to address to everything, every issue you may have. Please talk directly to one that can resolve your problem directly, and if needed update me about it.

What’s the top destination that you’ve visited OR that you plan to visit?

I have travelled to South America (years ago), I have been to Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, and Venezuela. I enjoy travelling a lot!
