DPD Ireland Extends Payara Enterprise Contract

International parcel delivery service, DPD Ireland, has renewed its Payara Enterprise software and support agreement with Payara.

As Ireland’s largest dedicated parcel delivery company, DPD Ireland provides customers across Europe and beyond with a united delivery partner, offering a sortation capacity of up to 21,000 parcels per hour.

Having experienced problems with their existing GlassFish application server, the team at DPD Ireland sought an alternative platform that would provide quick reaction times along with solutions and support for critical applications.

With recruitment for additional IT support staff proving challenging due to the specific skillset required, the industry innovator transitioned to the Payara Platform in 2018. As a direct derivative of GlassFish, transition to the Payara Platform was simple.

Once DPD Ireland migrated their mission critical applications to Payara Server Enterprise, they found Payara’s support Engineers quickly resolved any configuration changes required due to the migration with same-day response times for support requests.

Stefan Ajderev, IT Infrastructure and Security Manager at DPD Ireland, confirmed: “Using the support included with Payara Enterprise enables us to get our APIs more stable, and as a result we feel more confident in the service that we provide to our customers. We would highly recommend Payara. Monthly patches are extremely helpful – having the option to update is beneficial in case of critical issues. It’s stable and creates NO problems.”

By relying on the 10×5 support option of Payara Enterprise,  the in-house IT team at DPD Ireland no longer spends time dealing with application server issues, giving them more time to focus on their primary business activities in the parcel delivery industry and enabling them to improve their customer experience.

Recognised as a world leader in creating innovative infrastructure software, Payara Services is a global open source company with a community of over 320,000 users.

Run by a 24/7 team of experienced consultants, Payara Server Enterprise offers a 10-year software lifecycle, automatic security alerts, monthly releases, and bug fixes to ensure organisations can maintain the security and stability of their application’s environment.

Steve Millidge, Founder and CEO of Payara, added: “Payara Services delivers the Payara Platform to both customers and the community, 100% funded by Payara Platform Enterprise subscriptions. Committed to the continued development, support and stability of our enterprise open source software designed for mission critical production systems, our global team of engineers provide support and consulting services to customers worldwide.”
