Why Animation is an Important Marketing Tool

Animation is a great way to get into the world of marketing. In today’s fast-paced creative marketing world you want to do anything you can to get your product recognized. A simple written announcement is not enough to create hype around your product anymore. Even your loyal customers would get bored of your never changing practices. In that case, it’s good to change up your content every now and then and get your audience’s interest peaked. Animation is one of those solutions.

As we find more ways to talk to our audiences and communities, we must adapt to meet these new requirements. With YouTube being on such high we can all agree that one of the best ways to capture someone’s attention is through video. Animation videos provide entertainment, if done well, as well as promote and inform about your product.

4 Reasons to Use Animation

Obviously, each marketing tool has its’ own function, video commercials are perfectly valid and cannot be replaced in certain scenarios – but when your business allows you to explore the different means to promote your product, animation is a brilliant way to showcase the best of what you offer. Let’s look at some of the reasons why you should use animation:

1. Fresh & Engaging – Stand Out!

There’s nothing better than seeing people come up with new ideas for their projects. Animation gives you the creative freedom to create anything you want without breaking the bank. On top of that, people are interested in stories so using animation as a story-telling tool is the best way to get them engaged.

2. Video isn’t Always Relevant

Depending on the product, videos are not always the best choice. Here are Payara we offer a digital product to our customers which may be difficult to describe in a video. It might not be as clear to our prospects at first glance, and we’d rather spend this extra time animating to really explain our product than leave customers or prospects questioning whether they understood what we offer. Animation helps to explain your product or service in an easy-to-understand way.

3. Cost and Time Effective

It costs more to have a professionally produced video than to have a team or your in-house designer put together a good branded, animation video. Animated videos don’t go out of fashion, they’re very inclusive and diverse, so if a detail changes after you make the animation, its easy for you to change it– reducing the time you’d have to spend to re-shoot a scene in a traditional video.

4. Customizable

Your animation can be styled however you’d like, making it easier to adhere to your branding guidelines. Thanks to that your audience won’t struggle with knowing who this belongs to. If you make it as personalized as possible it will take away the doubt that it was thrown together using stock footage.

Inspiration for Animation

If you need inspiration there’s no better place than Behance. Nothing fills me with passion and inspiration as much as scrolling through these talented people’s projects. Considering how fast the creative market moves it is good to keep an eye on what people are doing as new techniques and styles rise you might want to give them a go.

When I was working on our Payara animation for Migration & Project Support, I found great relief in seeing people use simple techniques to approach difficult topics. It was uplifting to see such brilliant and put-together animations look professional and explain topics in an easy way. It made me think that this is exactly what we should be doing!

How Payara Uses Animation

We are keeping up with the innovation we see in the marketing field and this time we’re tackling that by working on our own promotional animation.

We think that being open to new approaches is how we grow and get people to see us for who we really are. We want our community to see how proud we are of everything we create and the best way to do that is to show it off in it’s all shiny glory.

That’s why we want our community to get the best customer experience knowing we take everything seriously, all to the tiniest details, like making sure we have a cool animated logo (see the logo animation at the start of this animated video about Migration and Project Support!)
