Payara Services Sponsors Kayak Athlete

Payara is excited to announce it has pledged its support to kayaking athlete, Emma Witherford, as she competes for Team GB in the 2019 ICF World Championships.

Aged 21, Emma currently studies at the University of Nottingham where she trains daily in freestyle kayaking whilst working towards a degree in Biology.

This is the second year running that Payara have pledged sponsorship for Emma, having previously provided funds to help her compete at the European Championships during 2018, where she achieved 7th place.

Currently ranked 2nd within the UK, this will be the first year that Emma has competed as part of the Senior GB squad and is hopeful to achieve a top 20 position, ahead of the ICF World Championships taking place on British soil in Nottingham in 2021.

Emma confirmed:

“I am incredibly excited to be competing for the Senior GB Squad at the ICF World Championships and am hopeful to achieve my goal of a top 20 position, doing my country, Malvern and, of course, Payara proud.”

“I am extremely grateful to Payara for providing me with sponsorship once again. Without their support I would have struggled to fund both the travel and kit required to compete overseas and am delighted that they have agreed to support me a second year running.”

Dedicated to extending support to the local Worcestershire community, Payara is committed to local initiatives and, as Emma’s main sponsor, have pledged £500 to aid her in achieving her goals.

Julia Millidge, HR Manager for Payara Services Ltd added: “At Payara we work incredibly hard to build an inclusive and supportive culture, which extends beyond our growing team to the local Worcestershire community. We were incredibly proud of Emma’s achievements in 2018 and were delighted to be asked to sponsor her again as she tackles the ICF World Championships as part of the Senior GB Squad.”

Taking place in Sort, Spain between 29th June -7th July 2019, the ICF World Championships is one of the most prestigious water sports competitions, with over 250 athletes competing from over 20 different countries.
