At the end of May we took part in the NetBeans Day UK – a free community event organised by IDR Solutions & NetBeans. Payara was not only speaking and exhibiting but also sponsoring lunch and snacks :) The event was held at Greenwich University and attracted around 60 NetBeans enthusiasts, including Java developers, University lecturers and students interested in learning about new technologies. The day was packed with a wide range of NetBeans related talks for both beginners and experts alike.
Steve Millidge, Payara Founder and Director, did a short demo, showing how to build a complete Java EE application stack in 30 minutes using Netbeans and Payara. Have a look at Steve’s presentation slides below.
Mark Stephens (IDR Solutions) wrote an interesting overview of all presentations delivered during the event in his blog post: ‘13 things you missed if you were not at NetBeans Day UK’ - make sure you check it out!
You might also want to have a look at Geertjan’s (NetBeans Principal Product Manager ) trip report blog for more talks’ highlights.
As the May NetBeans Day UK proved to be really successful, the community is already making plans to run another one soon and Payara will surely get involved again. For the next event, the organisers will arrnage for some more workshops and tutorials. This should give all attendees a great opportunity to actively participate in the event and get some hands-on experience with a variety of technologies using NetBeans – including Payara of course! If you have any suggestions on what you’d like to see at the next NetBeans Day UK event – let us know.
